My Top 5 Netflix Rebinge List

Ah, Netflix. You never cease to amaze me! Let's briefly acknowledge how difficult it is to finalize a list such as this. Lots of typing and deleting, because a 'Top 5' could easily become a list of twenty-five. However, for the sake of timing (both to be typed and later read by you) I've narrowed my selection criteria.

Everyone has their favorite binge-worthy TV shows across a variety of applications, but nothing comes close to those you can rebinge. Side note: I'm not entirely sure "rebinge" is a true word, but "rewatch" didn't quite fit the bill. Anyways, Netflix is stacked with content meant to hook, line, and sink you. Literally. I've been doing teletherpy visits sporadically throughout the work week and completing those dreaded adulting tasks (i.e. paying bills, getting the car washed, taking Marsh to the dog park, etc.). So, when the sun goes down it's officially my time! During which I'm either reading a book, checking Insta, or browsing through Netflix. Below is a list (in no particular order) where I've decided to share my top five Netflix summer rebinge list. Each of these TV shows are more so geared for the hopeless romantic, drama filled, comedic, and/or action oriented soul. Although, some of these could undoubtably be on a couples must-see summer watchlist.

1. Outer Banks

Duh. This appears to be everyone's go-to series right now. Outer Banks was initially released mid-quarantine, during this COVID-19 fiasco, so there's currently only one season. Bummer, I know, but I promise it's worth watching. Based in Outer Banks (OBX), an island in North Carolina, the setting perfectly suits the storyline. In the show, OBX has two kinds of people; the Pogues and the Kooks. John B starts the series off in saying, "the Outer Banks, paradise on Earth. It's the sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses. Two tribes, one island". Let me tell ya... you'll love the sense of adventure and camaraderie between the Pogues versus the high class lifestyle of the Kooks. Plus, who doesn't enjoy the possibility of a treasure hunt? It has it's cheesy moments, but if you're anything like me, you'll be rooting for the budding teen romance between Val and Vlad. I mean what's a teen drama without the classic star-crossed lovers scenario?

2. Gilmore Girls

Get it girl(s)! The day in and day out filming of the ultimate mother daughter duo. Easily one of those shows you could have playing in the background while you're cleaning house or typing out your latest and greatest blog post. I could watch it over and over again without hesitation. It's release date is older than then the rest I've listed here, but it's hard to beat a seven season rebinge. I seriously can't get enough of Loreli and Rory. The two talk a million miles a minute and have the most outrageous coffee addiction, but it feels completely natural as you're viewing this witty, feel-good comedy. P.S. when it comes to Rory's love interests on the show I'm hands down a Logan Huntzberger fan. Who's with me?

3. The Vampire Diaries

Come on now... who doesn't love watching the Salvator brothers, and their fated attraction to Elena Gilbert and the town of Mystic Falls? Another multi-season show where you can't seem to stop watching after just one episode. Welcome to a world of lurking horror, where mystical creatures like vampires, witches, and werewolves come to life. It's filled with an epic amount of suspense and centuries of drama. The real question is, "are you team Stefan or Damen?". Tough choice, but I'm going with the oldest brother on this one. There are also two spin off series that originated from TVD, The Legacies and The Originals. I have yet to see them, but heard from many that they're a good watch too.

4. New Girl

"Who's that girl? It's Jess!". For all of my fellow Friends addicts out there, you'll love this show. The foundation stems from Jess' long term relationship gone sour, ending in a breakup. She finds herself in need of a place to live and shacks up in a loft apartment with three single men. Their humor and friendship is the very definition of #goals. There is never a dull moment, nor will you find yourself hitting the pause button anytime soon. Jess is quirky, smart, and downright gullible to name a few, but these guys can't help but support her at all times.

5. Roswell, New Mexico

I just had to pick this one! As you all know I grew up in a small town, which happens to be an hour's drive from America's alien capital, Roswell, NM. Naturally, when I saw this released on Netflix last year, I had to see it. In doing so, I wound up binging the entire season in a single day. There are now two seasons and counting. If you're interested in sci-fi dramas, mystery, and romance, this is the TV series for you. Season 1 begins with a flashback scene from 1947, where a UFO crash lands in Roswell. Biomedical researcher Liz Ortecho returns home after ten years of being away, only to quickly reconnect with high school classmate, Max Evans. An unexpected shooting in her family's diner unearth's a secret he and his siblings have been successfully masquerading. One of the extraterrestrial sort. It's hard to have a favorite character in Roswell, New Mexico, as each one seems to resonate with you one way or another. It also exposes some sensitive topics, including: homosexuality, bullying, alcohol abuse, stereotypes, and cultural differences. It'll instantly hook you, making you eager to see what comes next.

Well... what are you waiting for? Pick one, grab some popcorn, and hit the play button!
